Receiving
- Verify if Goods are as mentioned on Packing Slip that is nailed to the Box / Crate & also received with the invoice.
- Membrane Housings should be found in strapped condition to the Crate / Box when opened.
- Damage / Short Shipment received in shipment should be immediately reported to the shipping company or Pentair Factory.
- Read through the User Guide provided for safe Operation of Membrane Housings.
Unloading / Loading
Before using the forklift to handle the vessel, pad the forks to lessen the chance of damaging the shell.
- If the Membrane Housings are to be kept on the ground before installation, use proper padding underneath to avoid damage.
- Ensure that membranes are not loaded in the housing when handling/movement of membrane housing.
- Any impact to the housing / Careless handling can permanently damage the housing.
Installation
- Use Saddles (padding) to support Membrane Housings at recommended lengths as shown in G&A drawing.
- Hold the membrane housing to the rack with the straps supplied with the CodeLine housing.
A torque 25 to 50lbs is sufficient to tighten the straps for holding the Membrane Housing to rack. Over tightening will restrict expansion.
- Use a Rubber Mallet while joining F/C port to F/C port with Victaulic® Style 77 to avoid damage to F/C port.
- Connecting Piping alignment to Feed, Concentrate port should not exceed 0.030inch(0.762mm) misalignment.
- Shims/Spacer should be installed on the up-stream side Adapter only.
- Thrust Cone/ Thrust Ring should be installed on the down stream end along with Head assembly.
- Use of thermoplastic piping for permeate port connections is recommended.
- Tightening of permeate port connections should not be more than one turn past hand tight.
- Use Teflon tape or anaerobic sealant on all threaded connections which will help ensure a leak-free assembly.
- Support the Header Independently. Piping should be self-supporting or supported by the headers.
- Operating personnel should be discouraged from applying from undue force to any fittings connected directly
In Operation
Before pressuring the Membrane Housing check to have Head Locking Segment is fully seated in the locking groove.
- Pressurize the vessel with elements, thrust ring and both the adapters installed.
- pH range of the Fluid should always be maintained in range of 3-10
- Permeate port Pressure should not exceed 125psi(8.62bar)
- Do not over-pressurize the membrane housing beyond 105% of design operating pressure, it is recommended to provide over-pressurization protection in the system.
- No change in components should be done while Membrane Housing is in Operation.
- Inspect Head Assembly (End Closures) regularly. Incorrect head assembly can cause catastrophic failure.
- Any leakage indicates a potentially dangerous condition. If leaks are not arrested the condition will deteriorate.
Maintenance
Servicing of any component of the Membrane Housing should be done after the housing vessel is de-pressurized fully.
- For F/C port leaks, please contact your nearest distributor or Pentair Water for support.
- Install protective covering over equipment located below Membrane Housing when performing maintenance.
- Remove and Install Elements in the direction of Feed Flow.
- Seals to be replaced when excessive seal wear is noted during system service.
- Lubricate seals sparingly using non-petroleum based lubricant i.e. Parker Super O-Lube®, Glycerine or suitable silicone based lubricants.
- Deteriorated or corroded components should be replaced regularly.
- Replace all parts that cannot be restored to as-new condition.
- Membrane Housing should not be used as support.
